The updated COVID-19 monovalent vaccines for Moderna and Pfizer were authorized/approved by the FDA on September 11th and recommended by ACIP on September 12th.

The federal government will continue to supply the new updated COVID-19 vaccine at no cost to individuals participating in the Vaccines for Children (VFC), Vaccines for Adults (VFA), Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and uninsured populations at pharmacies and local and community health sites.

Private practice providers will need to purchase the updated COVID-19 vaccine through their usual suppliers. The federal government will no longer supply vaccines to private practices free of charge. Private health plans will likely cover the administration costs.
