Keynote Speaker - John Auerbach

Executive Director, Trust for America's Health

Leading a nonprofit organization that makes disease prevention a national priority, Mr. Auerbach will present resources to connect community design with improved public health outcomes. He is closely monitoring changes to the healthcare system in the U.S., and will touch on "Repeal and Replacement" of the Affordable Care Act.

Community Design, Transportation & Public Health: Arizona Success Stories

Community Health Assessments and Improvement Plans across Arizona consistently show that transportation is a key element in improving an entire host of social determinants that impact health. Dr. Bob England and Rachel Zenuk will showcase transportation intervention strategies that urban and rural county health departments are facilitating in Arizona that are improving public health outcomes, promoting social equity, improving the local economy and better protecting the environment.

Jon Ford, Director of Communications, Vitalyst Health Foundation 

Vitalyst Health Foundation has launched the 2017 Year of Healthy Communities, which is a "mutually-beneficial collaborative year starting with the notion that building individual and collective momentum can enable everyone involved to reach a higher level of success." Mr. Ford will introduce participants to the initiative and discuss upcoming opportunities to participate in this important statewide effort to connect and build together towards improved health and well-being.

Building Community Health: Using Data to Set Priorities 

This workshop will guide participants in better understanding the data and their practical applications of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin’s County Health Roadmaps resource tools – with a focus on Arizona. The County Health Roadmaps provide a snapshot of a community’s health and provide practical guidance and tools to better understand key health data in each county and strategies for communities to move from education to action. The tools are also a valuable resource for developing county health assessments as part of accreditation efforts.
