About the Presenter: 

 

  • Lisa Villarroel, MD MPH is the Medical Director for Epidemiology and Disease Control Arizona Department of Health Services. She completed her education at Princeton University and Northwestern University before getting her Masters in Public Health and becoming board certified in Family Medicine. In addition to her work at the Health Department, she is an assistant professor at the University of Arizona College of Medicine and a practicing locum tenems. 
  • Webinar Description: Clinicians are taught during diagnosis that "when you hear hoofbeats, think horses not zebras.". Infectious disease in Arizona ranges from common "horses" like influenza to exotic "zebras" like tuberculosis - and this is a whirlwind tour through their numbers, epidemiology and clinical aspects that factor into public health's management.
