Sahana Jayaraman is an investigative data reporter at The Arizona Republic. She uses code and words to tell stories. At The Republic, she's reported on elections, nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Before joining The Republic, she spent a year interning on The Washington Post's data team, where she reported on the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection, traffic deaths, school spending and a variety of other subjects. She was part of the team that won The Post the 2022 Pulitzer for public service. She received her bachelor's degree in journalism and criminology and criminal justice at the University of Maryland, where she worked on award-winning investigations at the university's Howard Center for Investigative Journalism. In her free time, she enjoys painting, trying new restaurants and hiking.
